Living The Dream

We now live in Yellowstone National Park! We have 3-4 feet of snow on each side of our camper, but the roads are clear. The snow makes everything shine more and makes the pine trees on the mountains seem a more vivid green.

We've already seen lots of bison, they're everywhere. On the roads, beside the trails, and outside the store where we work. The baby bison are called red dogs and are adorable!  We are looking forward to seeing more of these soon!

The elk are fun, with the bulls just starting to show the growth of their new antlers.
We've been so fortunate, we've had 2 grizzly bear sightings already. One was a solitary bear and the other was this mama and her cubs. We sat and watched this group foraging on a hillside along a small river.
Many of the paths are still snow covered and many of the trails are closed due to increased bear activity right now. This boardwalk was impassable.
This was what our campsite looked like when we first pulled in. The snow has melted slightly since then. We even made little snow men one evening and we did a bit of cross country skiing on some fresh snow one morning before work.

We have been living in the park for a week now and we love it here!  All the other workers that we've met so far have something in common: we are all here because we want to be and we love Yellowstone! We are enjoying the Old Faithful area. We go for evening walks most days after dinner to try to catch different geysers erupting. It is very early in the season here and the park isn't very crowded.  Sometimes we feel like we have our own private park!  We will stay in this area until the middle of May, then we'll move to the Tower Fall area where we will spend the rest of the summer.
