Baby animals: bison and pronghorn and bears, oh my!

We have enjoyed searching for and seeing all the animals this summer, especially the baby animals here at Yellowstone. We feel like we go on safaris in the the park and wanted to share some more pictures.

We love watching the babies playing!

The baby bison are called red dogs because of their red color when they are young. By the end of August the young ones are becoming darker like their parents.
They are imitating the grown ups.

We saw these big horn sheep ewes and lambs on the trail to Mt. Washburn.

The big horn sheep lambs were adorable.

Love to see the animals among the flowers!

Mama pronghorn antelope and her baby.
The pronghorn babies are so pretty!

Here are 2 of the triplets that we have been watching all summer. Unfortunately as they have gotten older we have been seeing them less and less as they roam further in search of food.

We were fortunate to be able to watch these baby peregrines for a few months. Someone told us where to find the nest. We saw the mama sitting on the bare rock ledge,  the fuzzy  white chicks, then this was a few days before they fledged! The one in the front is protecting its food from the others. ( Sorry the picture isn't clearer, but it's the best we could do.) We also were able to view an osprey nest, a bald eagle nest, a golden eagle nest, a great horned owl nest, and we saw a blue heron nest.

This baby was playing with the flower.

The best kids we saw this summer were our own! They came to visit for 4 nights. We had a great time and they were able to see a lot of the park. We had great luck seeing geysers and animals!
